![West Hill Elementary School Holds Relay Recess [5/4/2012]](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/ZcjQjsvc5RM/0.jpg "- Sharon - During the week of April 30 to May 4, 20012, communities and schools all over America participated in Relay Recess Campaign. The Relay Recess Program provides students, teachers and administrators the opportunity to become superheroes in their own communities by celebrating people who have battled cancer, remembering loved ones lost and fighting back against a disease that has taken too many lives. The Relay Recess program also engages elementary school students in the fight against cancer through fund raising activities that support cancer programs and services in every community. In addition, it gives students a chance to get out of the classroom and have fun with entertainment and activities that reinforce what they have learned. West Hill Elementary School participated in this campaign and was the only elementary school in Western Pennsylvania to do this project. Throughout the week, students received prevention materials and participated in theme days. Parents, teachers and students acting as a team, have worked to help make positive choices for themselves and also learn to be of service to those in need. Even though 99 percent of families of West Hill Elementary students fall into the poverty level, they still were able to raise over $2000 for this campaign.")
